Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon: Will Viraf Phiroz Patel win over the audience like Barun Sobti did?

The makers of the popular daily soap have confirmed that Barun is indeed quitting the show, apparently to find work in films. Good luck to him!

While we are still upset that the hottie Barun Sobti is leaving Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, the makers have found a way to lift our spirits by roping in Viraf Phiroz Patel of Mahiway and Kismat fame for the role.
There is no doubt that Viraf will set our hearts racing, ‘coz he looks ‘oh-so-hot’ and sexy. The actor was last seen in Sony TV’s Mahiway as one of the leads and then in Kismat, where he captivated the audience with his suave looks and brilliant performance. Anyone and everyone who has seen these shows will certainly agree with us. But will he be able to deliver in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? Will he and Sanaya Irani (Khushi Kumari Gupta) be able to evoke the same chemistry that Barun brought to the small screen? Now that’s something we’ll be able to answer only after we see them together.
Arnav Singh Raizada, who is an intense and complicated character, is arrogant and showcases very little of his romantic side. And that’s exactly what made him so adorable, no? His equation with Khushi initially bordered on love-hate until he came out of his shroud of denial and decided to marry her. Since then, the romance between them has made audiences go gaga. Giving Arnav a new face is a bold decision in terms of TRPs, as many ardent followers have complained and threatened to quit watching the show.
We think that Viraf is probably the best replacement for Barun. Giving him the benefit of doubt, we believe that Viraf will indeed raise the bar of the show. And just in case it doesn’t work, they can always end Iss Pyaar…, right?

Will Zoya Akhtar make a sequel to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara?

The writer-director says she is in no hurry to plan a sequel to her hit 2011 film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

“Right now I am not excited to make a sequel. It would be silly to do it so soon. Let life happen to the film’s characters for me to put cameras on them again. I don’t subscribe to the theory of turning every successful film into a franchise.”

Aamir Khan is a no-hassle actor: Shivaji Satam

The Bollywood perfectionist recently shot a special episode of TV showCID to promote his forthcoming film Talaash

Shivaji Satam, who plays ACP Pradyuman in the crime thriller show, says Aamir is a no-hassle actor.“He is a professional and has no ego hassles, no tantrums. He is just like us. He follows the given lines and listens to the director,” Shivaji said during the shoot of the episode. “Aamir is very cooperative. We didn’t feel like we were working with a superstar,” added Shivaji.
Aamir joined the cast of the long-running show as it served like a perfect integration to spread a buzz about Talaash, which is a suspense thriller, releasing November 30. Directed by Reema KagtiTalaashalso features Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor.

Box office report: Jab Tak Hai Jaan likely to lose the race to Son Of Sardaar!

Though the Shahrukh Khan-Katrina Kaif-Anushka Sharma starrer has earned Rs 122 crores worldwide in six days (till Sunday), trade pundits feel that Ajay Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar could in all probability surpass box office collections of the Yash Chopra film

The Diwali bonanza for Bollywood may have ended on a sad note in Mumbai with the death of political giant Bal Thackeray, but not before the two big releases – Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar - had earned a combined nett total of Rs 140 crore at the box office (figures collected till Sunday).
As per the detailed box office report of Yash Raj Films, Jab Tak Hai Jaan’s all-India nett box office collection till Sunday was Rs 80.73 crore, whereas the overseas gross box office collection was Rs 41.7 crores. Interestingly, the film ranks eighth in the US box office with $1.28 million (1.94 million six day collection) with a screen count of 161. Hence the total India and overseas intake of JTHJ is around Rs 122 crores. On the other hand, SOS collected about Rs 66.02 crore India nett. Trade expert Amod Mehra says, “Both the films seem to be neck-to-neck in terms of their performance. While the first day was good for both, the second day and the third were extraordinary. The fourth day was almost identical, but on Saturday and Sunday, SOS has managed to have a slight edge over JTHJ.” If another trade analyst is to be believed, if one compares both the films in terms of average, ticket rates, footfalls, etc, SOS might race ahead of JTHJ in the second week.
Both JTHJ and SOS, which have already entered the second crucial week post-release, still have ten days time to create new records at the box office. But this is only before Aamir Khan’s Talaash storms the BO.

Tusshar Kapoor-Happy Birthday.

The funny man who has grown into a fine actor celebrates his birthday today

Born on November 20, 1976, in Mumbai, Tusshar Kapoor as an actor has indeed come a long way in the 11 years he has spent in showbiz. Although he was born to one of the most illustrious superstars Jeetendra, success eluded the young actor for a while at the start of his career. His debut film withKareena Kapoor didn’t work too well at the box office, but it didn’t dissuade him Tusshar from working relentlessly through the years. His efforts and hard work have helped him carve a niche for himself in the industry, as well as gather a huge fan following.

Though he tasted initial success with roles in comedy movies like the 2006 blockbuster Golmaal, as the speech-challenged Lucky, he grew on to take on more challenging roles in movies like Shootout at LokhandwalaKhakee and most recently The Dirty Picture. These were much appreciated and the Kapoor lad can now proudly claim to be among the more successful Kapoors in the industry and a fine actor in his own right.
With two big ticket films up for release in 2013, including Shootout at Wadala and Golmaal 4, we’re waiting to see more of Tusshar in the coming year. We wish him all the very best and may he deliver more rip-roaring albeit interesting roles in the years to come! Happy birthday, Tusshar!

Shahrukh Khan: Thanks for making me the star that I am!

Excerpts from the second part of Shahrukh Khan’s exclusive interview with UK-based journalist Ashanti Omkar

The Baadshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan, talks to BollywoodLife about education, being a brand, looking after his body, his love for London and being half South Indian…
From being an economics graduate who also studied mass communication as a Master’s, to A-lister – how important is business knowledge to enhance the creative art of cinema?
It’s not necessary at all. Education is important. It helps me keep abreast of things around the world like technology. In terms of business understanding, I didn’t have much, but fortunately, when I sit down, it is my second nature to read a book on a subject, or Google it. I spent so many years studying, but I don’t think I have business acumen. It’s mainly because of my education that I am able to comprehend and sit across the table at board meetings and make business decisions.
On being ‘brand’ SRK, one of the world’s most powerful…
I don’t know. I never had this notion of a brand. It’s nice and fashionable. I’m happy to be who I am. You can’t deny the branding now. It is a mix of my personal and professional life – 70 percent is due to the movies, the kind of films I do, all of which are a personal choice, an extension of my personality. I’ve never tried to keep a front. When I joined the industry, I was told to keep an image, but I am exactly as I am. I never put up a front. I do things as I did then. I feel one should be oneself in real life.
London – the city is special to you…
I love the Indians and Pakistanis in London – the only place I meet so many people. In India I am in the studio; I can be out in London. I like the weather and the greyness, but I’m not a depressed soul. I like cycling, walking – I can’t in India… So I take my kids out, play football in Hyde Park. The girls are very well dressed – I find it very nice. I love Hamleys toy store. I enjoy the beauty of nature. I like the vibe. I feel at home with so many people from the sub-continent. I’m a shy person, I feel. I also like the Mayor of London’s bikes!
On producing Student Of The Year…(This interview was done before the film released)
I’m not acting, but Karan Johar had a desire that I be a part of SOTY. I really didn’t look like a student (laughs). I’m part producer. I’ve not done anything for the film, actually. It is a gift from Karan to me. It is a beautiful film. Karan has wanted to do it for four or five years. It feels fantastic, like a gift for the goodness that I’ve done in my life. Maybe one day I will be an old student of the year – I’ll be like Marlon Brando going back to college. Koochie Koochie Hota Hai – we’re waiting for this!
You’re 1/2 South Indian?
My mother was from Andhra Pradesh – she lived in Bangalore; Dad was from Peshawar. I have a mixed lineage. My grandmum is Kashmiri.
What’s next for SRK – Chennai Express, Happy New YearKoochie Koochie Hota Hai
If you’re a South Indian, you’ll like Chennai Express – we’ve just started it. It is fun to work with Deepika Padukone after so long. She’s grown a little taller (laughs). Rohit Shetty is over the top and creates a fun action-comedy for the first time. It’s really fresh, theatrical, fun and happy, a journey from Mumbai to Rameshwaram by train. Yes, I’m doing Happy New Year with Farah Khan – it’s in the works. But it’s too early and you’re trying to get all the plots from me now (laughs)!
Your six-pack and the body guys want to attain…
I work out a bit and the food I eat needs to be good, nothing special. I’m a small eater. I’m careful, I play, I exercise. When I need to really get into shape, I spend 45 minutes a day doing a diligent workout. My metabolism is good. To make a six-pack, I go on a high protein diet and add extra exercise. I play with my kids. I don’t like to put on weight and am conscious of this. If I start feeling unhealthy, then I play football, run around and get back to my normal and comfortable weight. I love sports and love to play cricket with my kids too.
You’re a prolific Tweeter…
I like it sometimes, when I’m lonely and I do it. I don’t like people with preconceived notions. Those abusive, nameless, faceless people annoy me. They should try doing it all to my face. There are days when I feel like getting off it (Twitter). When I get frustrated, I do it (tweet) and have done it. But I’m back and I enjoy tweeting.
To your fans…
Be happy, have a good life, enjoy yourself. God bless you all. Thanks so much for making me the star that I am

Review: Son of Sardaar is agonising at best

And yet here we are, almost 90 years since the story was first narrated on screen, watching a 40-something Ajay Devgn trying to pass off as a 30-something Jassi and wooing a 20-something Sonakshi Sinha [ Images ] who plays Sukh.

Jassi, we are told, has returned to India [ Images ] from the UK to claim a piece of land that belonged to his father who in a silhouette scene was killed in a feud over god-knows-what.

On the train to his birthplace in Punjab [ Images ] (duh), he encounters the feisty young Sukh who he falls for quite immediately.

After a series of misunderstandings, Jassi ends up in her house for lunch because, you know, that's what all Punjabis do -- bring home every new fellow they see in a gurudwara.

It isn't long before the men of the house, Billu (Sanjay Dutt) and his cousins Tony (Mukul Dev) and Titu (yes, that's his name) played by Vindu Dara Singh [ Images ] discover the real identity of their guest.

You see, one of the men killed in the silhouette fight besides Jassi's father was Billu's uncle whose death they have been seeking to avenge for t-w-e-n-t-y f-i-v-e years.

The only hitch is they cannot kill Jassi as long as he is a guest in their house and because well... Atithi Devo Bhava... they must lure him out of the house before they can bump him off.

What follows is an improbable series of incidents (notwithstanding the most improbable of them all -- an unclaimed piece of land in India awaiting its owner for 25 years) as Jassi tries his best to stay inside the house and its men try to get him out.

For a little over two hours, director Ashwin Dhir tortures by imposing upon us Himesh Reshammiya's [ Images ] and Sajid-Wajid's music as well as actors whose collective acting skill perhaps is only slightly better than those of actors in inter-school skit competitions.

The only exception to this gala mess however is Juhi Chawla [ Images ] who fills up the screen with exuberance that she's mercifully not lost, playing the love interest of Dutt's Billu waiting for him at the altar as he seeks to avenge his uncle's death.

There is however little she can do either as the film itself starts by being shoddy -- watch the opening fight sequence and you'll know -- and goes downhill from that point.

Son of Sardaar is part of the growing trend that Rohit Shetty started with Golmaal and is the kind of cinema that the audiences love and critics hate. While I confess to have enjoyed some of these slapstick films in most portions (Bol Bachchan being the latest), I cannot say the same about this one.

The humour is downright lame; action sequences awful; music is torturous and the less said about the direction the better.

In news reports and everyday speak Son of Sardaar is often referred to in its abbreviated form -- SOS. It was the one thing I could relate to for I entered the movie hall in hope but stepped out an agonised soul.

Amitabh Bachchan: Balasaheb was close to me

Here's what your favourite Bollywood celebrities are tweeting.
Amitabh Bachchan ‏got emotional on his way back from Shivaji Park, where Bal Thackeray's last rites took place on Sunday.

'Mumbai was never, ever, in my 45 years here, been as quiet, disciplined and peaceful, as today !! BalaSaheb put to the elements .. 2 million on the streets walk along his cortege, in respect and in grief .. never before such !!' he tweeted.

'Salutations to the Shiv Sainiks, for maintaining a deserved protocol of dignity to the departed leader ... and salutations to the Mumbai Police for an incredible 'bandobast' ... not a corner unguarded .. polite and helpful service ! And during rituals at the pyre, the holy chants and the prayers, in the midst of 2 million mourners, pin drop silence ! Amazing !' he continued.

He also said Thackeray was close to him: 'The silence from the 2 million gathered at Shivaji Park during the last rites, demonstrated two things - the respect for Bala Saheb Thackeray and secondly the deep ingrained culture of the Maharashtrian ... 'sanskaar' !!!  Yes Bala Saheb, I would like to believe, was close to me, and never had I imagined that I would live to see his motionless body !!

'As I drive back from the funeral, two poster images stir an emotional chord. One : the word 'Swargiya' before Bala Saheb's name .. And Two : A poster of a rudraksha mala around a chest, the thread broken and a rudraksha seed falling away. Caption : 'mala tutli'. Bala Saheb wore a rudraksha mala around his neck and hands ... today the thread that bound all the seeds, broken,' he added.

HAPPY NEW YEAR-Farah Khan's Reunion Project With Shahrukh

As choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan begins work on her dream project 'Happy New Year' she specifies that the leading lady has to be a good actress and an exceptional dancer. Farah's re-union with Shah Rukh Khan has put the long impending project back on track and the director is leaving no
stone unturned to get the star cast right.
'Happy New Year' revolves around a bunch of male friends and how situation forces these friends to participate in a dance competition, but the only problem is that none of them are good dancers.
The female lead will play the role of a bar dancer, who will help these friends to win the world dance championship. "There is a special requirement for the role of a bar dancer and for that I need a very good actress who can who can
dance very well and look hot at the same time," Farah told PTI in an interview.
Rumour mills say that Sonakshi Sinha and Parineeti Chopra are the two names that have popped up for the role but Farah denies it.
"I don't understand how come so many names of the actress are floating around for this film. Even I get shocked sometime that what is happening. But we have approached no body," she said. However, the 47-year-old filmmaker has clarified that she will not go for a newcomer as the heroine.
"I don't think a newcomer will suit this role. Like for 'Om Shanti Om' I was very sure I want a newcomer but not in this case. I don't think a newcomer can do it unless it is a Madhuri Dixit type... like how she was in 'Tezab' someone
has to be of that level... which I don't think is going to happen," she said.
Well, as far as the male star cast of the film goes, Shah Rukh will team up with Jackie Shroff after 'Devdas', besides Boman Irani. "Jackie is not the hero... he is playing the villain. Then we have SRK, Boman. We need three more guys," Farah said. When asked if Abhishek Bachchan has been finalised Farah says, "I am not at the liberty to speak about the star cast. We will announce the star cast as soon as we get everyone together. We need to find a younger boy."
Farah had planned 'Happy New Year' even before her directorial debut 'Main Hoon Naa' and was preparing to film it immediately after 'Om Shanti Om'. The filmmaker is ecstatic about working with Shah Rukh again. "No I don't feel the pressure at all of the film. We are just making a film, we are not at war. I am very happy about the script and confident about it and so is Shah Rukh. We
compliment each other... If we are uneasy about anything we will stop it and make it right," Farah said.
"We both are happy with the script. It will be a multi starrer. The idea of the film is very interesting which I can't share about it right now," she said.
The shooting for 'Happy New Year' will begin from next year

Bollywood makes a beeline for 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' premiere

A string of Bollywood celebrities including biggies like Bachchans, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan to name a few, attended the grand premiere of late filmmaker Yash Chopra's last venture 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'.

Among those who attended the gala premiere were Amitabh Bachchan with wife Jaya, son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya, Rekha, Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan said, "We are excited to see the film. We thank the family for this premiere. I am sure Yashji would have liked this." Remembering the 'king of romance', Uday, son of the legendary filmmaker said, "As a family, we have mourned but now we have to celebrate. This is his last film. My dad was about beauty. We have not left any stone unturned. What you see today is amazing. Nobody has done this before".

Shahrukh Khan, who is playing the lead in JTHJ, said Chopra's legacy ought to be celebrated. "We are missing him immensely...we are missing him every moment. I hope everybody enjoys the film. It is a moment of celebration for us. His legacy has been wonderfully celebrated," he told reporters. Tinsel town divas from the yore and contemporary times turned out in large numbers to attend the event. Actors Vinod Khanna, Aamir Khan with wife Kiran Rao, Sridevi with husband Boney Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Randhir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Hrithik Roshan with wife Suzzane, Rajiv Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, filmamkers Ramesh Sippy, Karan Johar, Rakesh Roshan, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Sooraj Barjatiya, R Balki with wife Gauri also attended the event.

Also spotted on the occasion were actors Bipasha Basu, Parineeti Chopra, lyricist Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jeetendra, Anil Kapoor with daughter Sonam, Arjun Kapoor, Raj Kumar Hirani, Akshay Kumar with wife Tina, Shahid Kapoor among others. From those who have worked with Yash Raj Films to those who missed the opportunity all attended the event.

"This will be the most memorable film as it is Yashji's last film. It is difficult to find someone like Yashji," Shahrukh said. Actress Katrina Kaif said, "I am lucky to have worked with Yashji. The premiere is grand today and the only missing thing is Yashji". Actor Abhishek Bachchan said this was time to celebrate and it's not a farewell time. "We will always love him," he said.

Aamir Khan, who will be seen in upcoming film 'Dhoom 3' under the YRF banner, said, "It's a bitter sweet moment. We will miss him a lot. It is ironic that his last film is titled 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. I am waiting to see the film". "He was the king of romance. This is a beautiful way of celebrating his life with love, happiness and remembrance. I must say his films have shown romance for every age...wish he was around to see this," said actress Madhuri Dixit Nene, who worked with Chopra in 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai'. "We will miss him a lot. There are so many memories with him that it is endless to speak about it...it is difficult to express," said actress Sridevi who worked with Chopra in 'Chandni' and 'Lamhe'.

Photos of Chopra's films like 'Joshlia', 'Daag', 'Deewar', 'Chadni', 'Lamhe', 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai', 'Veer Zaara' and others were displayed as celebrities walked the red carpet from the back entrance of the studio. Also flashed was a huge black and white photo and title of his last film 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. Buzz was that actress Rani Mukherjee, who was rumoured to be dating Chopra's elder son Aditya, was the official in charge of the premiere guest list of the film. Chopra's wife Pamela had earlier said the premiere was their way of celebrating Chopra's illustrious life rather than mourning it.

The grand premiere was planned even before Chopra's sudden demise on October 21. Releasing tomorrow, 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead.

Wanted to do films beyond 'Dhoom': Sanjay Gadhvi

Sanjay Gadhvi, who directed the first two films of the fast paced "Dhoom" series says he decided not to be part of " Dhoom 3" because he wanted to make films that come naturally to him.
"I am trying to do every kind of movie because the process by itself is so much fun. Every film makes you know yourself better so why repeat? If that was the idea, I would have made Dhoom 3. I wanted to move on and explore something else.

Otherwise after 'Dhoom 2', the most natural thing would have been to do Dhoom 3," Gadhvi said.

The filmmaker made his directorial debut with Tere Liye (2000) which went unnoticed. His first film with Yash Raj Films was Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002). The film enjoyed moderate success.

He first gained fame when he directed the action thriller Dhoom(2004) and then directed the sequel Dhoom 2. The 46-year-old director says his next musical film Ajab Gazabb Love which releases today, is a light hearted film.

"Funny things come naturally to me. In fact my crew and assistant directors used to ask me to make a light hearted film. I have a knack of saying something really funny while keeping a poker face," he added.

Gadhvi also said that he does not hesitate in admitting that the non-performance of Sanjay Dutt-Imran Khan starrer Kidnap did play in his mind.

"The backlash that came after Kidnap made me sure that I want people
to come, have a good time in my film, forget worries and don't worry about something serious to ponder over.
"My next film had to be light hearted. After the lack of intended response from 'Kidnap', the idea was to have some fun. This is where Ajab Gazabb Love came in handy," he said

Himmatwala first look from the set

In the poster of Sajid Khan’s forthcoming film, the Singhamdude is seen holding a tiger on leash

After the humongous success of his previous outing, Housefull 2, director Sajid Khan is busy working on his blast from the past film, Himmatwala. It is reported that the Ajay Devgn-Tamannaah starrer is a remake of the original Jeetendra-Sridevi-starrer. The first-look posters of Sajid’s tribute are out and his fixation for the 80s stands out, loud and clear. What amused us most was when we saw Devgn holding a tiger on leash, in one of the posters. Was he taking a dig at his peer, Salman Khan whose Ek Tha Tiger is releasing soon? Southern belle Tamannaah makes her Bollywood debut with this remake and boy, she looks smokin’ hot! Especially in the poster where she is brandishing a whip! Both Ajay and Tamannaah look good together, and it seems that Sajid has another blockbuster waiting in the cans. We wonder how different will the new slick version be from the original. More importantly, will theSingham dude manage to pull off a ‘Jumping Jack’ Jeetendra, considering the fact that Devgn has two left feet. Dear Bollywoodlifers, do you think this old wine in a new bottle will find any takers?

Number 786 is Akshay Kumar's lucky charm

Akshay Kumar was in Dubai recently for the shoot of a from for his upcoming co-production with Himesh Reshammiya Khiladi 786. Incidentally the luxury car that the unit got for the shoot had 786 on the number plate which is also part of the film's title.

A source informed, "The film's creative producer Rakesh Upadhaya had made all the arrangements for the shooting. He had booked the car from a local dealer and when the car came on the sets everyone was surprised as the number was 786!"

The source added, "Akshay was extremely thrilled and thought that it was a blessing in disguise for the film."

The song was shot in Margham, near Dubai and in Hatta, Oman. The song is choreographed by Piyush Panchal.

Parineeti graces the unveiling of real estate projects in Bangalore

It isn't every day that Parineeti Chopra comes to Bangalore. However, the Bollywood actor made it a point to head to the Garden City to unveil two projects by Ezzy Group — the Tuscany style-inspired Corinth on Hennur Road comprising 25 boutique row villas; and The Avenue, a collection of boutique residences in Whitefield.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan Public Review

Public response on jab tak hai jaan was above expectation.
All r praising the performance of shahrukh khan-the king of romance and beautiful katrina kaif.
Anuska sharma as Akira did her job briliantly

Another historical movie for YRF and srk.

Review: Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a winner

Director: Yash Chopra

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma, Anupam Kher, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor

Words will not do justice to the swan song of a great filmmaker, but one has to try. So here it goes. Some people really know how to make a film. Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) is Yash Chopra’s last film as director and it’s a film rich in philosophy, poetic love and honest emotions. Like any piece of commercial cinema, it has its cinematic liberties and plot holes. But the sum of it is an old school love story that weaves its magic on the tender hearts of die-hard romantics. The King of romance lives up to his epithet.

JTHJ is the love story of Samar Anand. And as fate puts it, he comes across two women who love him equally. The film starts off in London where Samar is a desi lad desperate to earn an honest living in a foreign land. He runs into the ravishing Meera who entrusts all her faith in Jesus. Samar helps Meera get over her pent up anxieties and in the process they fall in love. And just when you think the film’s running into the oh-we’ve-seen-that-before territory a twist separates the lovers. SRK’s forced to move to India where he runs into the boisterous Akira. Akira’s daredevil personality and spirit impresses Samar. But of course she’s alive and happening because she loves him.

On the subject of writing, one of JTHJ’s commendable features is its real and uncomplicated dialogue. You don’t have characters being theatrical in expressing love. Instead they say it casually and in underplayed tones. And then there’s the core philosophy of faith and time that sets JTHJ apart from Bollywood’s regular fare of romances. The film says destiny and time can be the most important factors in a love saga.

That the actors look as beautiful as the exotic locations they’re in is a trademark feature of Yash Chopra’s films. JTHJ is no different. Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma steal the thunder from the landscapes of Kashmir, Ladakh and England. Shah Rukh Khan even in his grungy avatar as the army man lends to the authenticity of his part. (Save for a handful of amateurish make-up instances during the early London sequences).

But JTHJ is so much more than its flawless visual appeal. AR Rahman’s music and background score adds a touch of magic to the proceedings. It complements the actors’ performances perfectly. Shah Rukh Khan makes a stunning entry, he owns the screen space and he weaves his charisma into a net that holds JTHJ together. Especially effective are his scenes as the reserved army officer. Katrina Kaif is just a thing of beauty. That she looks stunning is a given, but she manages to give one of her career’s finest performances as Meera. Her underplay is the perfect contrast to Anushka’s lively and bubbly act. Anushka lightens JTHJ with energy, while Katrina anchors it with firm emotions.

The new name for srk should be like Leg.Shahrukh Khan.[Leg.Stands for LEGEND]At a gracious 3 hours runtime, JTHJ feels like an epic love story. And it is just that. JTHJ is the perfect adieu to a hallmark career. It is the best romantic film made in this generation.
